I have been married thrice: Pritty Vishy reveals why big TV and gas impressed her
By Valerian Khakayi, September 23, 2026Kenyan content creator Purity Vishenwa, widely known as Pritty Vishy, has opened up about her past marriages, revealing that material possessions such as a big television and gas once influenced one of her decisions to get married.
Speaking about her past relationships, Vishy in a candid interview, said she had been married three times, sharing an unusual reason behind one of the marriages.
“I have been married thrice. Kuna yengine nilikuwa married because nilipata ako na TV kubwa na gas,” Vishy revealed.
Vishy’s remarks offer another glimpse into the experiences she has previously shared about her relationships and life while growing up.
Pritty Vishy on her marriages
Vishy has been open about being married three times and getting divorced.
Speaking about the experience, she explained that her first marriage was not planned. According to Vishy, she had gone out with her then-boyfriend and returned home late, prompting her mother to punish her.
“I was from seeing my then-boyfriend; I lost track of time and I got home a bit late, my mother wanted to punish me for being out late and so I ran away and moved in with the guy. And that is how dropped out of school and moved in with him not knowing that he was a thug. After a few months, I went back home and I was taken to a boarding school,”she said.
She said she ran away from home and moved in with the man, only to later discover that he was involved in criminal activities. She eventually returned home and was taken to boarding school.
Vishy said she later got married for a second time after meeting a man who offered her shelter while she waited for her mother to calm down.
She was around 17 and in Form One at the time, according to the interview. She later discovered that the man was already married and returned home.
“I met a random boy who gave me shelter until my mother calmed down, and that’s how I got married again. I was in Form One then, but I was about 17 years old because I was always in and out of school. I later found out that he was married, and that’s when I went back home,” she added.
She also recalled moving in with another married man while she was in Form Two, saying she did not initially know that he had a family.
Her childhood experiences
Vishy also spoke about how her childhood experiences shaped her attitude towards relationships.
“Some people who have been abused in the past reach a point and become sexually active, for me nimekuwa nikifanyiwa that think when I was young akili yangu ilikuwa already imekoma me having a boyfriend was not a big deal to me,” she said.
In her 2023 interview, Vishy said her desire to have a better life while escaping difficulties at home influenced some of the decisions she made when she was younger.
Her latest remarks add another detail to the story of her early relationships, with Vishy recalling that, at one point, owning a big TV and gas was enough to impress her.
