Hatukua tunalala njaa: Wilbroda speaks on tough economic times
By Paulette Mboga, June 9, 2026Milele FM radio host and actress Jacquey Nyaminde has caused discussion after speaking about the state of the economy, saying life today feels harder compared to earlier years.
Her remarks came during a conversation on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, where she and her co-host compared current economic pressure with past experiences and how people are coping.
The discussion started with questions about whether life has become more difficult now or if challenges have always existed in the same way. Both speakers reflected on daily living costs and how households are managing under the current situation.

The co-host began by pointing out how things feel different today compared to previous years.
“That time we were not struggling like now,” the co-host said.
Wilbroda responded by insisting that people were not facing the same level of pressure in earlier times. She maintained that basic living conditions felt more manageable than compared to now.
“No. We were not struggling,” Wilbroda said.
Reflection on past economic conditions
The conversation later shifted to leadership during retired president Uhuru Kenyatta’s time, where both Wilbroda and the co-host reflected on how the economy was performing. They noted that although there were financial challenges, people felt more movement in daily life.
The co-host explained that even though money was sometimes difficult, things were still progressing.
“Uhuru Kenyatta..we were moving, yes pesa ilisumbu sumbua but we were moving,” the co-host said.

Wilbroda agreed with the comparison and emphasised that the current situation feels more difficult than before. She said the pressure on citizens has increased, and life has become more expensive and strained.
“Yes, haikua vile iko saa hizi. Rais Ruto and go, Rais Ruto and go,” Wilbroda said.
Her remarks have added to ongoing public conversations about the rising cost of living and economic pressure affecting many households across the country. Many people continue to express concern over increasing expenses and daily struggles.
Media personality Willis Raburu also recently urged the government to act quickly in addressing the economic hardship affecting citizens. He pointed to transport disruptions caused by fuel challenges and a strike that affected movement in different parts of the country.
“Truth is, we are all in pain, we are all suffering. It is true the government must move to alleviate the crisis; even if fuel is a geopolitical issue, it has local ramifications,” Willis Raburu said.
