Goated moves: Salasya praises Matiang’i’s dance style
Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has praised former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i’s dance style after watching a video of him dancing at a public event.
Taking to social media on Monday, June 29, 2026, Salasya expressed his admiration for Matiang’i’s moves, describing them as goated.
“I like how His Excellency Matiang’i dances… His dance moves are goated!” Salasya wrote.
His remarks came after an undated video surfaced online showing Matiang’i dancing to a popular Gusii song during a function attended by several leaders.
In the clip, the former Interior CS is seen confidently showing off his dance moves alongside Kisii Governor Simba Arati and Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka as the leaders joined in the celebrations while the crowd cheered them on.
The video has attracted widespread attention on social media, with many Kenyans praising Matiang’i for his energetic performance and relaxed personality, while others echoed Salasya’s sentiments, applauding his dance style.
Although the date and venue of the event have not been independently verified, the clip continues to circulate widely on social media, drawing positive reactions from users.

Matiang’i’s dance moves
This is not the first time Matiang’i has attracted public attention for his dance moves. During his appearances at cultural celebrations, thanksgiving ceremonies and community events, videos of him dancing have frequently gone viral on social media.
Unlike his public image as a firm and reserved administrator during his years in government, the dance clips have shown a more relaxed and cheerful side of the former CS. Many Kenyans have praised his confidence and willingness to participate in traditional songs and dances, particularly during events in the Gusii region.

His dance performances have often generated thousands of reactions online, with social media users describing his moves as energetic and authentic. Supporters have said the videos portray him as approachable and connected to his roots, while others have shared the clips purely for entertainment.
The latest video, which prompted praise from Salasya, adds to a growing collection of viral dance moments involving Matiang’i. The clips continue to circulate widely on social media whenever he attends public functions, with many Kenyans expressing admiration for his enthusiasm and ability to join in celebrations.
