Geoffrey Mosiria rescues Gengetone artiste Maddox from the streets, takes him to rehab
By Katemarthason Okudo, August 3, 2026Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service Geoffrey Mosiria has revealed that he has rescued former Boondocks Gengetone artist Maddox and taken him to a rehabilitation centre after finding him living on the streets.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Monday, August 3, 2026, Mosiria said the musician, who rose to fame as a member of the popular Gengetone group Boondocks Gang, had been struggling with depression and drug addiction, circumstances that eventually led to him living on the streets.
How the rescue happened
According to Mosiria, he learnt about Maddox’s situation after concerned members of the public reached out to him asking for help. He said he immediately decided to look for the musician and speak with him.
“I rescued renowned Genge artist Maddox, whose life sadly took a different path after he fell into depression and became addicted to drugs. As a result, he has been living on the streets,” Mosiria said.
He explained that when he finally met the artist, Maddox was drinking on the streets, but after a conversation, he agreed to accept assistance.
“Someone reached out to me and shared his story. After learning about his situation, I was deeply touched and decided to meet him tonight. I found him on the streets drinking, and after speaking with him, he agreed to accept help,” Mosiria added.
Beginning a new chapter
Mosiria said the former Gengetone star has now started a new journey towards recovery after being admitted to a rehabilitation centre.
He expressed hope that the treatment would help Maddox overcome addiction and rebuild his life.
“I am grateful that we have now begun a journey of transformation and hope. I have taken him to a rehabilitation centre for addiction treatment, where he will begin his recovery process,” Mosiria said.
The county official also used the opportunity to encourage compassion towards people battling addiction, noting that recovery is possible when they receive the right support.
“Addiction is not the end of someone’s story. With timely intervention, professional treatment, family support and God’s grace, recovery is possible,” he said.
A call to support those struggling
Mosiria thanked the people who alerted him about Maddox’s condition, saying their concern made the rescue possible.
“I also thank everyone who reached out and alerted me about his condition. Together, we can restore hope and transform lives, one person at a time,” Mosiria said.
Maddox became a familiar name in Kenya’s music industry as part of the Boondocks Gang, a Gengetone group that gained popularity with youthful hits and energetic performances during the genre’s rise.
His rescue has sparked hope among fans, with many expressing their support and wishing him a successful recovery as he begins treatment and works towards rebuilding his life.
