Dama Wa Mobile Spares invites applications for five male sales jobs, rules out hiring relatives

Businesswoman Damaris Muriithi, popularly known as Dama Wa Mobile Spares, has announced a fresh recruitment drive, inviting qualified applicants to fill five male salesperson positions while setting out a list of requirements, including a humorous condition that successful candidates must prove they are not related to her.

In a post shared on Instagram on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, Dama disclosed that her business was urgently looking to recruit five male salespersons to join her team and directed interested applicants to submit their applications via the company’s official email address.

According to the entrepreneur, all applications will be reviewed by the company’s human resources department, which will be responsible for selecting successful candidates from the emails received.

“We urgently need five salespersons, and they must be men. Please send your application to [email protected],” she wrote.

Besides submitting a curriculum vitae (CV), applicants have also been asked to attach a copy of their national identity card as part of the recruitment process.

Dama further stated that every applicant must provide a Certificate of Good Conduct, making it one of the mandatory requirements for consideration.

However, it was one particular requirement that caught the attention of many of her followers online.

“Our HR team will select candidates from the emails received. Note that you must prove that we are not related in any way, especially as cousins,” she wrote.

In a light-hearted remark, the businesswoman joked that applicants would be required to prove that they are not related to her in any way, particularly as cousins, a statement that sparked amusement among social media users.

The humorous condition quickly generated reactions online, with many followers finding the requirement entertaining while others speculated that it reflected a desire to avoid claims of favouritism or nepotism in the hiring process.

Although delivered jokingly, the remark became one of the most discussed aspects of the job advertisement, with some users sharing the post widely while tagging friends whom they believed met the qualifications.

The recruitment announcement comes as Dama Wa Mobile Spares continues to expand her business operations and remains one of Kenya’s most recognisable entrepreneurs in the mobile phone and accessories industry.

“😂😂 Please attach your CV together with a copy of your ID, and you must also provide a Certificate of Good Conduct,” she added.
