Celebrity bodyguard who protected Kardashians, Lewis Hamilton dies in road accident
By Steve Ireri, July 16, 2026Hollywood is mourning the death of veteran celebrity bodyguard Mason Haynes, who spent years protecting some of the world’s biggest stars, including the Kardashian-Jenner family, Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton, singer Charlie Puth and rapper Nicki Minaj.
Haynes died following a tragic road traffic accident on Friday, July 4, 2026, just two days before what would have been his 53rd birthday. He was 52.
News of his death was confirmed through a fundraising campaign launched to support his family, with loved ones describing him as a man whose kindness and loyalty touched countless lives.
“Some people pass through life. Others leave a mark on everyone they meet. Mason Haynes was one of those rare, exceptional people,” read part of the tribute shared on the fundraising page.
The statement noted that Haynes is survived by his wife, Fay, their daughter Brooke, son Noah, as well as an extended family and friends spread across the world.
Those closest to him remembered him as more than just a security professional, describing him as a mentor, protector and dependable friend who always put others before himself.
“A protector. A mentor. A prankster. A giant in every sense of the word, with an even bigger heart,” the tribute added.

Haynes’ employer, Trojan Security UK, also paid an emotional tribute, describing him as one of the industry’s finest close protection officers.
“We would like to pay homage to an absolute legend in the close protection game. Big Mason. Gone too soon. Rest easy and fly high, brother,” the company wrote alongside a photograph showing Haynes on duty with Kris Jenner.
Throughout his career, Haynes became one of the most respected figures in celebrity security, working with high-profile clients across music, sports and entertainment.
In a previous interview, he revealed that some of his earliest celebrity assignments involved members of the Kardashian family, including Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Kendall Jenner and Kanye West, before later providing personal protection for Lewis Hamilton, Charlie Puth, Kevin Hart and Nicki Minaj.
Haynes also found himself at the centre of one of the most talked-about celebrity incidents in recent history after serving on Kim Kardashian’s security team during the 2016 Paris robbery.
Although he rarely spoke publicly about the incident, he once acknowledged being part of the security detail during the ordeal, describing it as “a set of unfortunate circumstances” that led to the traumatic robbery.
Before establishing himself as one of the most sought-after celebrity bodyguards, Haynes said he entered the security industry while looking for work to support himself through college.
What began as a part-time security job eventually evolved into a full-time career in close protection, earning him the trust of some of the world’s biggest celebrities over several decades.
