Bishop Kiengei pens emotional message after his sister’s son is laid to rest
By Steve Ireri, June 4, 2026Jesus Compassion Ministry founder Bishop Benson Kiengei has penned an emotional message after his nephew, Joseph Kamau, was laid to rest days after his death at the age of 35.
In a Facebook post on Thursday June 4, 2026, the preacher, who had earlier announced the painful loss of his sister’s son, thanked family members, friends and church members for standing with them throughout the mourning period.
In his message, Kiengei expressed gratitude to everyone who offered support, comfort and prayers as the family came to terms with the devastating loss.
“Thank you Family, Friends and The Church for your Support during our sad moments, as a family we are grateful to everyone who stood by us and to all who said a prayer on our behalf. Dying is not being defeated it’s winning rest in peace Jose wa wamoro,” he wrote.

The emotional message came days after the bishop revealed that Joseph Kamau had passed away while receiving treatment at Nakuru Referral Hospital following a short illness.
At the time, Kiengei described the deceased as a vibrant young man whose life had been cut short at a time when he still had a promising future ahead of him.
The preacher disclosed that Joseph was the eldest son of his late sister and had been raised through difficult circumstances by his grandmother, whom he affectionately referred to as “cùcù.”
While mourning his nephew, Kiengei said the family had lost a young man with great promise and destiny, adding that death had robbed them of someone they deeply loved and cherished.
“Death robs us of the people we see at heart and the people we think about in memories. Today, the Torias’ family has lost a young, vibrant man who promised a future. At 35 years old, life has been cut short, future deemed, and expectations rubbed,” he wrote at the time.
He further noted that despite the family’s efforts to save Joseph’s life, they had ultimately accepted God’s will.
“Joseph Kamau (Watoria) My Late sister’s eldest son has rested at Nakuru Referral hospital after a short illness, having been brought through thick and thin by cùcù (My Mother). We, as a family, have lost a young man who had a promised destiny; the world has robbed us, but in death the heavens have gained,” Kiengei wrote.
The bishop added that the family did everything within its power to save him before his passing.
“We tried our best, but God decided the fate, Rest in peace, Jose Wa Wamoro witù,” he said.
