Actor Tyler Mbaya opens up on how past mistakes shaped his mindset

Taking to social media on Tuesday, August 11,2026, the former Machachari actor shared a thought about the relationship between mistakes, growth and life lessons.
“If I had the mindset I have now, I wouldn’t have made those mistakes. But if I hadn’t made those mistakes, I wouldn’t have the mindset I have now,” Baha said.
Additionally, he described the situation as simply the paradox of life, adding that the lesson always comes after the test.
“That is simply the paradox of life. The lesson ALWAYS comes after the test,” he added.
Mbaya’s reflection suggests that he now views some of his past experiences as important lessons that contributed to his personal growth and changed the way he approaches life.
Baha on past challenges
The actor has previously opened up about how difficult experiences have affected his outlook and confidence.
On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Mbaya spoke about the leak of private videos involving him, saying the experience had unexpectedly contributed to a new level of self-confidence.
He explained that the incident had made him less concerned about being judged by other people, particularly in professional spaces.
“These days, I walk around wondering, ‘Did Mama Mboga see those videos? But like, bro, there is some self-confidence that I have nowadays that is so unmatched. Walking into a boardroom and not caring – that is the kind of confidence I am talking about,” he explained
The actor also acknowledged that the incident had a potential impact on his daughter, Astra Kamau. He said he was aware that she could eventually come across the videos and ask him about them and that he was prepared to have an honest conversation with her when the time came.
“The truth is that stuff no longer bothers me. The only thing that weighs on me a little is the fact that in future, I will have to sit down and have a conversation with my child. Because I know one day, she will come and ask me about it,” he added.
Rather than viewing his past only through the mistakes he made, the actor appears to be acknowledging the role those experiences played in helping him develop a different mindset.
