The burial and Eldoret memorial service for the late Bishop Joseph Likavo have been postponed to next week, the church and family have announced in an official statement released by the International Vision Centre (IVC) Ministry.

According to the statement dated December 31, 2025, the decision to reschedule the burial and memorial service in Eldoret was necessitated by unforeseen logistical challenges beyond the control of the family and the funeral planning committee.

“The family and the funeral planning committee wish to inform the church and the general public that the burial date and the memorial service set for Eldoret of our departed spiritual father, Apostle Joseph Likavo, have been rescheduled to next week,” the statement stated.

Church leaders noted that, had circumstances allowed, the original schedule would have been maintained.

“This has been necessitated by unforeseen logistical issues,” the church statement read in part.

The family and ministry leadership further revealed that efforts to facilitate the necessary arrangements have been ongoing, including engagements with government authorities and diplomatic offices.

They confirmed that clearance from the embassy was successfully obtained on Monday, December 29, 2025, following interventions by government leaders.

“We appreciate all the interventions made by our government leaders to get clearance from our embassy, which happened on Monday, 29/12/25,” the statement added.

IVC assured congregants, friends, partners in ministry, and the general public that plans are being finalised and that a definitive burial date and program of events will be communicated at the earliest opportunity.

In the meantime, faithful were urged to remain prayerful and patient as arrangements continue.

“We are doing our best to communicate with finality at the earliest on the actual date of interment. If it were within our power, we would have maintained the status quo. Thank you for your kind understanding on this matter. In Christ’s service,” the statement further stated.
