Boniface Mwangi has drawn inspiration from Jesus with a prayerful message on confronting Kenya’s challenges as Catholics across the globe marked Palm Sunday on March 29, 2026.

Borrowing from the biblical experience of Jesus, who rode on a donkey but had a profound impact, the activist urged people to boldly wield their power to bring change.

He urged them to confront challenges facing the nation, mentioning several issues that have been making headlines in the country.

“Jesus rode His donkey humbly into Jerusalem, yet He shook the powers of His time. This Palm Sunday, may we ride forward with courage and faith to confront the corruption, killings, and injustice in our nation. The power to bring change is ours.

Taking the fight to the ballot

After taking the fight for a better Kenya online and on the streets for several years, Mwangi made the bold decision to go for the highest office in the land, stating that the people entrusted with running the country are inexperienced and incompetent.

“You can ask him. Job description: Member of Parliament, Member of Parliament, Assistant Minister, then Deputy President, and now President. He is a multi-billionaire. How? He just stole our money. Young people of this country must come together to liberate our nation,” Boniface said in an exclusive interview with one of the local TV stations on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

The photojournalist has been a fierce critic of the president, whom he recently compared to a tout, saying the latter’s constant appearances on top of vehicles show desperation.

Boniface Mwangi claims Ruto is desperate

Speaking during a morning show on K24 TV on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, Boniface Mwangi reflected on Ruto’s public conduct since June 25, 2024 and the Head of State’s recent conduct.

“Do you see, since June 25, 2024, Ruto is always on top of a vehicle. Ruto amekua makanga. Kila siku ako juu ya magari because he knows the government is gone. He is doing everything. He is desperate… Even the way he spoke yesterday and insulting his opponents. It is the mark of a desperate man. A man who knows his time is up,” Boniface Mwangi stated.
