Bishop Zakayo’s controversial ring

Elsewhere, the preacher addressed growing online criticism surrounding a ring he often wears, dismissing claims that the accessory carries occult or symbolic meanings.

Speaking during a church service on Friday, November 28, 2025, the bishop explained that he is deeply unhappy with the behaviour he has witnessed on social media, saying it has become a place where people create narratives that have no basis in truth.

He noted that he chooses not to respond to online attacks, insisting he cannot engage in back-and-forth exchanges with critics or justify himself on issues such as the clothes he wears or the cost of his outfits.

“And I want to say that I am not happy with social media at all. That is why you will never see me on social media clapping back at people. I never justify myself on social media, which is why I cannot even engage in things like clarifying to fans how much money I spent on the suit I am wearing. So if what I wear is irritating you, that is your own personal problem. Leave me alone,” the preacher said.

Bishop Zakayo further said that those who are bothered by his dressing are dealing with a personal problem, adding that his ministry cannot be dictated by people who scrutinise his every appearance.

The bishop then said that one particular remark, that he turns his ring in a way that suggests hidden meaning while in public, caught him off guard.

He questioned why anyone would be bothered about him turning his own ring on his own finger and wondered why such behaviour would even attract criticism.

“But to be honest, there is one person who made an interesting jab at me, the one who said that I usually start turning this ring of mine in public. And I wonder: whose finger is the ring on? And who is turning the ring? Me. So why is that person being bothered?”

He stressed that he cannot call a press conference every time he wants to wear something, nor can his ministry operate based on public approval of his accessories or wardrobe.

According to him, he listens to God and receives guidance from Him, and that is what directs his choices.

“So now you want to tell me that every time I want to wear something related to my ministry, I must hold a press conference and ask people whether I should wear it or not? God speaks to me, and I usually tell Him a lot of things. And I know that anything spoken about you here on earth should never shake you, because God will stand for you,” Zakayo added.
