Daughter of Kikuyu gospel singer Betty Bayo, Sky Victor, is in hospital after a diagnosis revealed that she has a blood infection.

In an update she shared on her TikTok page on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, Sky clarified that the blood infection had left her weakened and appealed to her fans to keep her in their prayers so she could recover.

“Blood infection, pray for me,” she wrote, adding a praying emoji.

Further, Sky shared a video in which she is seen lying weakly in a hospital bed while her stepfather, Hiram Gitau, and her brother, Danny Victor, stood beside her.

In the clip, a drip is seen administering a clear fluid into her body, with part of her hand wrapped in a white bandage after receiving injections.

Sky did not disclose the hospital she was admitted to, but fans comforted her with emotional prayers, while others noted how her stepfather and her brother Danny appeared visibly saddened as they watched over her.

Betty Bayo’s illness and passing

The current health situation involving Sky Victor comes months after the death of her mother, celebrated Kikuyu gospel musician Betty Bayo, who succumbed to complications related to blood cancer in late 2025.

Betty Bayo, born Beatrice Wairimu Mbugua on June 4, 1985, in Banana, Kiambu County, rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most recognisable voices in the Kikuyu gospel music scene. Raised in a family of eight, she faced financial hardships that forced her to drop out of school while in Form Two.

She later worked as a househelp for two years to raise school fees before returning to complete her secondary education in Nairobi.

Her breakthrough came in the early 2010s with the hit song “11th Hour,” which resonated widely due to its message of hope and divine intervention, earning her a strong following across the country.

Her health, however, began to deteriorate quietly in late 2025. Reports indicate that she had been unwell for about three weeks but chose to keep her diagnosis private.

She was initially admitted to AAR Hospital along Kiambu Road before her condition worsened, prompting her transfer to Kenyatta National Hospital on Friday, November 7, 2025.

Betty Bayo was battling acute myeloid leukaemia, a form of blood cancer, alongside complications that included hypertension and excessive bleeding. Despite efforts by medical personnel, she died on Monday, November 10, 2025, at approximately 1:03 PM while receiving treatment at the facility.

Her death sent shockwaves across the country, with fans, fellow musicians, and leaders mourning the loss of a singer whose music had inspired many.

She was laid to rest ten days later, on November 20, 2025, in a private burial ceremony held at her Mugumo home along Kimbo Road in Kiambu County.

Before the interment, thousands of mourners gathered at Dumbberry Stadium in Kiambu for an emotional memorial service that drew prominent figures from across the country, including national leaders who paid tribute to her legacy and impact in gospel music.

In the days following her burial, controversy emerged after her mother, Joyce Mbugua, raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding her death, calling for an inquest and a post-mortem to establish clarity.
