Bahati responds to 24-hour ultimatum over DNA results
By Charles Ouma, March 4, 2026Kenyan musician Kevin Kioko, popularly known as Bahati, has been forced to respond amid pressure from a section of netizens who have been eagerly waiting for the results of a DNA test he took with a woman claiming to be his biological mother.
Bahati came under pressure with some accusing him of engaging in theatrics to push his brand and remain relevant by dominating discussions across media platforms, popularly known as clout chasing.
The singer shared a video of a man demanding that he makes the results of the test public within 24 hours or be compelled to do so using other means.
“Sisi tumempa Bahati siku moja pekee yake-24 hours atupatie matokeo ya DNA na huyu mama…Tunataka ukweli na uwazi kwa hii maneno ya kufanyia watu vipindi, clout chasing na maisha ya wananchi Wakenya,” the man stated.
This loosely translates to: “We have given Bahati 24 hours to present the results of the DNA test with the woman claiming to be his mother. We want the truth on this trend of theatrics and clout chasing with the lives of Kenyans”.
Bahati’s response
The singer called for patience in handling the matter, terming it as very sensitive amid speculation that the DNA test and the buzz generated by the woman who surfaced claiming to be his biological mother was staged for clout chasing.
“Guys let’s come slow in this matter… It’s very sensitive,” Bahati stated on his social media accounts on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
Bahati, who grew up in a children’s home, took the test on February 17, 2026, and stated that medics had informed them that the results would be out in two weeks.
“I have already done the DNA test, and the doctor told us to wait 14 days for the results,” he said.
Period elapses
The period has since elapsed, with the singer giving the matter a wide berth until alert netizens brought it to his attention, forcing him to respond.
Speculation has been rife that Bahati staged the whole to chase clout with renowned producer Wuod Fibi declaring him the king of clout chasing.
“Bahati is such a brilliant content creator. All that ‘Mama’ Drama just to advertise a hospital. He is no doubt the king of Kiki hapa Kenya. The result will come out as NEGATIVE,” Wuod Fibi stated on February 19, 2026.
