Arap Uria mourns death of man he had been supporting for treatment

Content creator and comedian Arap Uria has shared the heartbreaking news of the death of a man he had been supporting to receive treatment.

In an update on his Facebook account on Monday, March 16, 2026, Arap Uria revealed that Robert Mutai Chelogoi died at a local hospital after a long battle with health challenges.

“Hello family, we are heavy-hearted in announcing to you the passing of Robert Mutai Chelogoi. Robert passed on yesterday at around 7 pm at Longisa Hospital,” he wrote.

He thanked well-wishers who supported him in raising funds needed for the deceased’s treatment.

“Our prayers to the family and many thanks to you, our online Team Strong family for standing with him during is medication,” the comedian wrote.

Journey to Bomet

Arap Uria made the long journey to Robert’s home in February, stepping in to support after he was moved by his condition.

He shared Robert’s contact and appealed for support, revealing that meeting the ailing man was an emotional moment on February 16, 2026.

“Guys, we are now live with Robert Mutai Chelogoi in Bomet East. It’s very serious, and tears rolled down my cheeks once I saw him. He’s kindly asking tumsaidie with anything you have,” Arap Uria said.

Defying poor connectivity, the content creator who has also been using his platforms for philanthropy, rallying netizens behind needy cases camped in Bomet and walked every step of the way with the family, providing frequent updates on social media.

Seeking Ruto’s intervention

Arap Uria sought to bring the matter to President William Ruto’s attention with a passionate plea in which he detailed Robert’s condition.

“Dear His Excellency, Mr President William Ruto, The person in the picture above is Robert Mutai from Bomet East, Kipreres Ward, in a village called Chelemei. He is suffering from an unknown disease that started as a small pimple in his nose and has progressed into a severe condition, as shown in the picture above. He shared that the disease began as a pimple but soon spread, disfiguring Robert’s face and taking his nose, eyes, upper jaw and other parts of the face,” he wrote seeking Ruto’s intervention.

The illness has slowly taken his nose, upper jaw, and eyes and continues to worsen. The family has been battling this condition for 23 years and has sold everything they own while seeking treatment, and they can’t afford even food,” he wrote, accompanying the appeal with a photo of Robert.
