Tragic end in Machakos: Man kills girlfriend, mob lynches him
By K24 Digital Reporter, October 28, 2025A middle-aged lady was killed by her boyfriend before an angry public cornered and lynched him.
The incident happened on Monday, October 27, 2025, afternoon at Mwanyani village, 2 kilometres away from Machakos town along the Machakos -Kitui road. Confirming the incident, the Machakos DCIO Nzioka Singi said they received a call about a murder incident that happened at Mwanyani and rushed to the scene, where they found a lady named Susan Nyaboke lying in a pool of blood on the road.
“Today, at around 1330 hrs, we received a call from members of the public and were informed that there was a murder incident that had just happened at Mwanyani. When we got to the scene, a lady by the name Susan Nyaboke was lying lifeless on the road.” Said Singi.
He explained that the suspicious man, armed with sharp machetes, trailed his lover to the area, where she was catching a motorbike to her office. The lady was cut on the neck and died on the spot.
Quickly, the mob gathered and beat the suspect to death and set his body on fire.
“Those who witnessed the incident, because it took place in a market, gathered and got hold of the man before beating him mercilessly to death and lynching his body,” the DCIO explained.
Killer not identified
The said killer has not been positively identified, but the police suspect him to be one of the area college students within the area.
“It’s highly suspected he is a student from one of the colleges around Machakos, but he didn’t have any identification documents at the time.”
Singi added that, according to a friend, the two lovebirds had a child together, and it’s suspected the killing was triggered by a love gone sour. Some of the eyewitnesses who spoke to K24 Digital advised men in any relationship to shun taking the law into their own hands while faced with challenges.
“If you feel your relationship or marriage isn’t working, then just move out and let your spouse find a ready and willing man to marry. This issue of killing your partner just because of love gone sour is uncalled for, and men should step up.” Said Allan Musembi, Machakos Sub-County Bodaboda Chair. Police have not identified any man involved in the mob killing of the suspect, but investigations are ongoing to unravel the whole occurrence.
The bodies have been taken to Machakos level five referral hospital mortuary, awaiting autopsy. The SCCIO has, however, warned the public against taking the law into their own hands and committing murder instead of handing over any suspect to the security agencies for legal action.
