Police in Kigumo, Murang’a, are holding in custody four persons of interest in the mysterious, gruesome murder of a woman on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

The deceased is said to have been killed and the body wrapped in blankets and put in a bag, which was later given to a taxi driver to drop off in Kangari town.

According to Kigumo deputy police Commander Hassan Bashir, the assailants, who include Wanjiku’s two sons, her husband, and the taxi driver, are the key persons of interest in the murder that has sparked a wave of fear in the area.

Bashir said the taxi driver who operates between Makombiki and Kangari town was heading back to the latter when he was flagged down by a man who he thought was a passenger.

Elsewhere, two people were killed in a gun attack in Kainuk.

When the driver stopped, the man said he wanted to send him to deliver a parcel to Kangari town at a specific point where he would find another person waiting for it to be delivered to its destination.

The man paid the driver for the parcel delivery and helped him put it in the car because it was heavy luggage.

“The driver then proceeded to town where he had been told to drop the parcel, but he did not find anyone who appeared to be waiting for it,” Bashir explained.

Who committed the murder?

After a long wait, the driver decided to take the parcel to the Kangari police station for the police to keep it in case the owner decided to come get it.

“The officers demanded that the parcel be opened for them to see the contents and were surprised to find it was a human body wrapped in polythene bags and clothes,” he narrated.

“The officers were able to act swiftly, and the preliminary investigations led to the arrest of the four who are helping us to unravel what transpired,” added the sub-county police boss.

Bashir is now calling upon the members of the public who may have any information regarding the matter to come forward, promising that the detectives are continuing with the investigations to unravel the mystery about the woman’s death and bring all persons of interest to justice.

“We will leave no stone unturned and anybody involved in the murder will be arrested and charged,” he added.
