Police have confiscated more than 335 kilograms of bhang in two different operations conducted in Machakos and Isiolo counties.
During the raids, one person was apprehended, and a vehicle linked to the illicit trade was also seized.
In a statement shared by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), on Thursday, October 24, 2024, the first operation took place in Athi River South sub-county, Machakos County, where a tip-off from a concerned member of the public led police to a building under construction in the Kwa Mang’eli area.
Officers said they discovered eight gunny bags containing 115 kilograms of cannabis after searching. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is approximately Ksh3.45 million. A security guard who was stationed at the building was also arrested at the scene.
The police are now actively searching for the owner of the house, identified as Susan Muya, who is believed to be involved in the trafficking operation.
