Police recover stolen livestock after raid in Molo

Police officers in Molo, Nakuru County, have recovered part of a stolen cattle herd following a raid in the Kapsita area.

The recovery was confirmed by the National Police Service (NPS) in a statement shared on X on Sunday, July 20, 2025, after an intensive search operation led to the recovery of several cows, which were transported to the local police post and handed back to the rightful owner.

“Following a report of stolen cattle in the Kapsita area, National Police Service officers from Turi Police Post and ASTU Elburgon responded promptly. They mounted an intensive search, recovering part of the herd,” the NPS said.

“The recovered cows were taken to the police post and handed over to the owner.”

According to the NPS, the operation is ongoing, and efforts to recover the remaining livestock and arrest the culprits are in full gear.

“Our officers are on the ground, tracking the suspects involved in this theft. We are committed to ensuring all stolen livestock is recovered.”

“We will not relent until all the stolen livestock is recovered and the criminals behind this are apprehended,” said the police.

The statement added that a joint team from different units is maintaining surveillance in the region to prevent further incidents. The National Police Service commended area residents for their cooperation in sharing vital information that aided the recovery.

“We appreciate the public’s pivotal role in providing timely intelligence,” the NPS said. “It is this kind of collaboration that strengthens our fight against livestock theft and rural crime.”

The Service further urged locals to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately.

“We encourage continued cooperation with law enforcement officers. Security is a shared responsibility,” they added.

Livestock theft continues to pose a threat to economic stability in parts of the Rift Valley, prompting security agencies to intensify patrols and community engagement.
