Police launch investigations after woman’s body is found in Embakasi
By Mustafa Juma, March 18, 2025Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) based at the Embakasi police station have launched investigations for murder after the body of a young woman was found in the Jua Kali area, Embakasi East constituency, in Nairobi County.
DCI in a statement shared via social media on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, said the woman is reported to have been strangled to death by two men.
Commotion
According to the DCI, the incident occurred on the night of Monday, March 17, 2025, and was reported at the Embakasi Police Station by three Jua Kali residents who had responded to a distress call after hearing a commotion near their houses at around midnight.
“Detectives in Embakasi have taken up for investigations a murder case where a young woman is reported to have been strangled to death by two men at Jua Kali area of Embakasi in Nairobi. The incident that occurred last night was reported by three Jua Kali residents who had responded to a distress call after hearing a commotion near their houses at around midnight,” the DCI stated.
Strangled by two men
The three men are said to have told the police that they had found two unknown men forcing themselves on the young woman believed to be in her early twenties.
On noticing them, the perpetrators of the incident are said to have left the woman and disappeared in the darkness.
The police officers who included Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel from the Nairobi area visited the scene after receiving the report only to find the unresponsive body of the lady with lowered underpants and strangulation marks on her neck.
“At Embakasi Police Station, the three reported to have found two unknown men forcing themselves on the young woman believed to be in her early 20s, but who bolted out into the dark at the approach of the responders. Police who included CSI personnel from Nairobi area arrived at the scene to find the unresponsive body of the lady with lowered underpants and strangulation marks on her neck,” DCI’s statement read.
The DCI says the scene has been documented and the body of the woman moved to the city mortuary awaiting identification and autopsy.
