Police intercept 800 rolls of bhang in Tigoni
By Cynthia Lodite, August 13, 2025Police have apprehended a key person of interest in possession of bhang following a well-coordinated intelligence-led operation.
According to the police report, the person of interest was apprehended in Karambaini Tea Zone in Kiambaa Sub-County on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.
The National Police Service, in a statement released on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, revealed that the person of interest was found with at least 800 rolls of cannabis.
“On 12 August 2025, Tigoni police officers, acting on intelligence, arrested a suspected drug trafficker in Karambaini Tea Zone, Kiambaa Sub-County,” NPS said.
The police have revealed that at the time of his apprehension, the person of interest, who was using a TVS Star motorcycle, posed as a khat transporter to disguise his illegal trade.

Arrest
At the time of interception, officers discovered 800 rolls of cannabis sativa hidden in a woven bag. He was also found in possession of Ksh3,795, believed to be proceeds from the sale of the narcotics.
“The suspect, who was riding a TVS Star motorcycle and posing as a khat transporter, was found with 800 rolls of cannabis concealed in a woven bag, along with Ksh3,795 believed to be proceeds of crime,” police said.
Likewise, according to the National Police Service, the key person of interest and the recovered exhibits are currently in police custody, awaiting arraignment in court.
“Both the suspect and the exhibits are in police custody, pending arraignment,” NPS noted.
On the other hand, the National Police Service has reiterated its unwavering commitment to dismantling networks involved in the trafficking of narcotics, illicit brews, and second-generation liquor as part of its broader mission to protect public health and national security.
In addition, the authorities are calling on members of the public to report suspicious activity to curb the spread of dangerous substances in communities.
