By David Nthua, November 10, 2025That the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination might be thrown into disarray is now a matter of watch and see.

Grief and anger have gripped Lugari Constituency as teachers, students, and parents struggle to comprehend the brutal killing.
School principal found dead
According to officials, including KUPPET, fellow teachers who spoke to the media on Sunday, November 9, 2025, the principal’s body bore deep injuries and signs of torture, raising suspicions of foul play.

“We want to know what really happened. A teacher cannot be killed in such a cruel manner,” said Anthony Gisamba, a teacher at Munyuki Secondary School.
“It’s unbelievable that a teacher can leave to collect exam papers and just disappear like that,” lamented Damary Kisiangani, KUPPET Kakamega County Vice Treasurer.
KUPPET Kakamega County Chairman Johnston Wabuti warned that teachers might suspend their exam duties until the Directorate of Criminal Investigations acts.
“The principal was fondly dumped in a river, and the body was badly mutilated, and we are very sad. If there is no report to explain who did this, we shall be forced to disrupt exams in this region,” Wabuti said.
Leaders urge the government to investigate what killed Isiaho
Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula called for a full investigation. “We want to be told what happened from the accident scene to the river. Whoever is involved must be arrested; no one is above the law,” he stated.

Teachers have threatened to withdraw from supervising KCSE exams unless swift action is taken.
They argue that the slow pace of the investigation shows that the government is not taking the matter seriously because Isiaho was “just a teacher.”
The incident follows a similar tragedy in Garissa, where a young lecturer was killed in October, raising concerns about the safety of education professionals across the country.
Authorities are yet to release official details about the suspects or the motive behind the brutal killing of Principal Isiaho.
Meanwhile, parents, teachers, and students await clarity to ensure that the national exams continue without further disruption.
