Cry for justice

Jesinter Achieng, a vegetable vendor at Bondo Junction, for weeks Achieng has not been doing her egg business.

It is said that she abandoned it and opted for bar business in Usenge Bondo sub-County.

“Achieng was part of us here in Bondo junction, but of late, we have not been seeing her and her contributions at the Chama(group). We are equally shocked by her death,’ Achieng said.

“Femicide cases in Siaya are alarmingly common, yet justice often comes too late. We are demanding swift and transparent investigations. Justice delayed is justice denied,”

The body of the deceased has been moved to Siaya County Referral Mortuary as police continue with their investigations.

The incident comes only three days after a five-year-old girl was found murdered and dumped at a bush adjacent to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University campus in Siaya town.

Elsewhere, Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have confirmed the arrest of a 34-year-old man linked to the gruesome murder of Jane Atila, a University of Nairobi student.

The detectives revealed that the 20-year-old went missing a fortnight ago and reports of her missing were registered at the Kikuyu Police Station on October 13, 2025.

After about a week of investigations, the deceased’s decomposed body was found dumped in a thicket at Kefri Muguga Forest in Kiambu County.

DCI officers noted that forensic fingerprint identification analysis conducted in liaison with the National Registration Bureau positively identified the body as one belonging to Atila.

“Preliminary investigations point that moments before her disappearance, Atila was in the company of her estranged boyfriend Mutua,” the detectives explained.
