Molo police arrest person of interest with bhang and fake cigarettes
By Aloys Michael, October 5, 2025Police in Molo have arrested a person of interest in possession of 100 rolls of suspected bhang and four packets of counterfeit Super Match cigarettes.
In a statement on the X account on Sunday, October 5, 2025, police said the person of interest is currently in police custody awaiting arraignment in court.
“On 4th October 2025, police officers from Molo Police Station, while on patrol within Cassino, arrested one suspect in possession of a hundred rolls of suspected Cannabis sativa and four packets of counterfeit Super Match cigarettes. The suspect was escorted to the station and placed in custody, awaiting processing and arraignment in court. The drugs have been secured as exhibits at the station,” the statement read.

This arrest is part of ongoing efforts by the police to reduce the circulation of illegal drugs and counterfeit products in the area. Authorities urge the community to continue supporting the police in their fight against crime.
The arrest came days after police officers arrested a person of interest found in possession of dried material suspected to be cannabis sativa weighing approximately three kilograms in a swift operation conducted at the Watiti Roadblock.

Tip-off from public
The arrest followed a tip from a vigilant member of the public who reported a suspicious individual on a motorbike who appeared to be hesitant to cross the barrier.
Acting quickly on the tip, officers from the roadblock stayed alert for a motorcycle’s license plate, and upon the rider reaching the roadblock, the officers promptly stopped him.
The rider attempted to evade the spike.
According to the police, the suspect was carrying a blue safari bag strapped to his back. He was subjected to a thorough search, where police discovered dried material suspected to be cannabis sativa
’Upon opening the bag, officers discovered a dried plant material suspected to be cannabis sativa, weighing approximately 3 kilograms,’ the police said.
The person of interest was immediately arrested and escorted to Bute Police Station, where he was placed in custody.
At the same time, Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) detectives arrested two suspected traffickers and confiscated 450 kilograms of cannabis sativa valued at approximately Ksh13.5 million.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the detectives were acting on a tip-off.
Based on the information, they intercepted a Toyota Noah near the Delamere shop along the Naivasha-Nairobi highway.
“The suspects, along with the motor vehicle, were escorted to Naivasha police station, where the vehicle was found to contain eight gunny bags and eleven bales of Bhang weighing 450kgs, all concealed and ready for distribution,” DCI said.
