Suspect arrested as detectives recover opioids worth Ksh648K

Law enforcement officers have seized assorted narcotics worth Ksh648,480 and arrested a suspected drug trafficker, Abdalla Abdi Wambugu, in Kwa Njoroge Estate, Kanugaga area of Kawangware in Dagoretti North.

In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations said the operation involved detectives from the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) and the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU).

According to DCI,  the officers recovered various drugs including 72.39 grams of methamphetamine, 16.84 grams of cocaine, and 3.83 grams of ecstasy. Additionally, they seized Ksh202,000 in cash, digital weighing scales, assorted glass tubes, and bongs.

“In a joint operation, detectives drawn from the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) and the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) over the weekend apprehended an ill-famed drug trafficker, Abdalla Abdi Wambugu, in Kwa Njoroge Estate in Kanugaga area of Kawangware in Dagoretti North, where they managed to recover assorted narcotics with a street value of Ksh648,480,” DCI stated.

Adding;

“Upon arrest, a search was conducted in his residence resulting in the recovery of assorted drugs including 72.39 grams of methamphetamine, 16.84 grams of cocaine, 3.83 grams of ecstasy, Ksh202,000 in cash, digital weighing scales, assorted glass tubes – bongs among other exhibits.”

Wambugu was brought before the court as part of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat the sale, distribution, and use of illegal drugs.

“The suspect was arraigned today as detectives continue the war against the sale, distribution, and consumption of narcotic drugs,” DCI stated.
