The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Ibrahim Amin says that the detectives have grilled the woman whose dream led to the uncovering of bodies dumped at Kware in Mukuru slums, Nairobi.
Addressing the media on Sunday, July 14, 2024, DCI Amin noted that they brought the woman in for questioning bearing in mind that she is the one who led the members of the community at the Kware dumping site where six bodies were retrieved on the first day.
The DCI boss noted that the woman told the detectives that her missing sister received a call from an unknown male individual on June 26, 2024.
According to Amin, the woman added that her sister showed no distress during the call and left to meet the person. However, she never came back home.
After days of searching and raising the alarm, she received a strange dream which indicated that her sister had been killed and dumped.
“We’ve interviewed the family that said they dreamt about their missing sister,” Amin stated.
“The sister confirmed that Josephine disappeared from Mukuru slums on June 26, she received a call from a male person at around 9 am and later disappeared.”
DCI narrows down investigations
DCI Amin announced that eight bodies had been recovered; six on Friday, July 12, 2024, and the other two were recovered on Saturday, July 13, 2024. The numbers have however been disputed by several members of the public who were at the scene.
He further argued that the DCI will try to establish if the murders are linked to cults, rogue medical activities or even criminal activities.
“Are we dealing with a cult that is associated with criminal activities? Are we dealing with serial killers that are also associated with criminal activities? Or even, could we be dealing with rogue medical practitioners that are dealing with criminal activities? All these are hypothesis we have tried to bring on board,” he stated.
“Members of the public should collaborate. 70 per cent of the success of any investigation is how we examine the crime scene. If we don’t preserve the crime scene, if we allow members of the public to contaminate it, we will not go far,” Amin appealed to the public.
