The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is appealing to the public to assist in apprehending the person of interest in the shocking murder of three family members in Eastleigh, Nairobi County.

Authorities are on the lookout for 24-year-old Hashim Dagane Muhumed, who has been named as the person of interest in the killings of a mother, her daughter, and a 12-year-old niece.

The gory murders took place on October 21, 2024.

In a statement on Sunday, October 27, 2024, DCI urged anyone with information that could lead to Hashim Dagane Muhumed’s arrest to come forward.

They emphasized the importance of public support in cases like these, where community vigilance can play a key role in solving heinous crimes. Those willing to assist can use DCI’s toll-free hotline, 0800 722 203, or report directly to the nearest police station.

“We appeal to anyone who may have information that could assist in the arrest of Hashim Dagane Muhumed to #FichuakwaDCI by calling our toll-free hotline 0800 722 203 or report at any police station,” DCI’s statement read in part.

According to DCI’s preliminary findings, CCTV footage shows a Nissan Note, with registration number KDQ 718Y, picking up the three victims from their Eastleigh home hours before their bodies were found at different locations around the city.

The vehicle, suspected to have been used in the crime, was later discovered abandoned at Wakulima Market near the ENA Coach stage, and it has since been towed to DCI Headquarters for a detailed forensic examination.

“Homicide detectives who are pursuing the gruesome murders of three family members – a mother, daughter and 12-year-old niece – have identified the prime suspect in the monstrous killings, Hashim Dagane Muhumed whose photo appears on this post,” DCI stated.

Adding;

“Investigations conducted so far have established that Hashim Dagane, 24, was driving the Nissan Note (Reg No. KDQ 718Y) car captured on CCTV cameras picking the victims from their Eastleigh home on October 21, 2024, hours before their bodies were discovered scattered at various locations.”

DCI revealed that the vehicle’s movements and location appear to further implicate Hashim Dagane Muhumed in the crime. One other person of interest has already been detained and is aiding investigators with valuable leads.

Bodies

The bodies of the three family members – Dahabo Daud Said (38), Amina Abdirashid Dahir (22) and Nusayba Abdi Mohammed (13) were found with stab wounds on October 22, 2024, at around 6 am at different locations after they went missing the previous night from their house in Eastleigh Estate, Nairobi.

“The bodies of Nusayba, Amina and Dahabo were found at Bahati in Makadara, 6th Avenue Parklands and Khyumbi, in Machakos respectively, with the hands of Dohabo chopped off. On 23/10/2024, two human hands were recovered at South C along Five-Star Road. The bodies are preserved at the City Mortuary (Nairobi Funeral Home) awaiting autopsy scheduled for 25/10/2024. DCI Homicide Team is investigating,” Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja said.
