By Valerian Khakayi, August 24, 2025Detectives in Kisauni Sub-County have arrested two persons of interest linked to a violent attack that left a man dead and residents living in fear.
In a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Sunday, August 24, 2025, the persons of interest identified as 35-year-old Chigamba Salim Dalu and 27-year-old Hassan Ndegwa Nyota were part of a five-man gang accused of staging a midnight robbery at a homestead in Majaoni, Kisauni.
“Kisauni Sub-County detectives have pounced on two dreaded robbery with violence suspects who have been terrorising residents of Kisauni and its surrounding areas,” the DCI statement read.
“The duo, 35-year-old Chigamba Salim Dalu and 27-year-old Hassan Ndegwa Nyota, alongside three still-at-large accomplices, staged a midnight robbery at a home in Majaoni, Kisauni.”
According to police, the duo stormed the home in the dead of night, shooting the man of the house in the ribs before escaping with a 75-inch Hisense television, two mobile phones, and other valuables. The victim later succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the Coast General Hospital.
“In the dead of night, the gang stormed the homestead, ruthlessly shooting the man of the house in the ribs before vanishing into the darkness with a 75-inch Hisense TV, two mobile phones, and other valuables. Sadly, the man later succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at the Coast General Hospital,” the DCI statement read.
The DCI further stated that following the incident, detectives launched a manhunt and tracked Chigamba to a hideout in Kinango, where he was found in possession of one of the stolen phones. His accomplice, Hassan, was later arrested in Mombasa town after an operation by investigators.

“A relentless manhunt was immediately launched. Acting on forensic intelligence, detectives smoked Chigamba out of his hideout in Kinango, nabbing him with one of the phones stolen during the robbery in his possession. The dragnet then shifted to Mombasa town, where his partner-in-crime Hassan was cornered and arrested,” the statement read.
The police say the two are currently in custody as detectives continue to pursue their three accomplices, who remain at large, adding that they will be arraigned once investigations are completed.
“Both persons of interest are in custody, undergoing processing pending arraignment, as detectives pursue additional leads to bring the accomplices still at large to book,” the DCI statement read.
