Zari Hassan, who is a mother of four boys and one girl, has revealed that her children didn’t approve of her marriage to Shakib.

The 42-year-old mother of five opened up while speaking during an interview on NTV’s Mwasuze Mutya show on Monday morning July 10, 2023.

The Ugandan socialite explained that her children didn’t want her to marry Shakib because they didn’t know his character.

She said that her kids began to like Shakib after spending time with him at his place.

Zari claimed that her children told Shakib to take care of their mother after they bonded.

“They loved Shakib after spending some time with him and they accepted him as their father. They told him to take care of their mother and they started staying together every day in one house as a big family,” Zari said.

The quadragenarian further disclosed that she met Shakib in South Africa, where he resided in Pretoria at the time.

Zari said Shakib approached her and expressed his feelings, which took her by surprise. She gave in nonetheless.

However, due to family dynamics, the duo chose to keep their relationship private in the early stages.

Wedding

Zari got married to her sweetheart Shakib, 32, in a private ceremony in April 2023.

The two lovebirds got married in a low-key very simple Muslim wedding that was held in a house.

Videos showed Zari and Shakib exchanging vows while kneeling on the floor as they were surrounded by only a handful of people.

Speaking about her wedding during the interview with NTV, Zari expressed surprise and admiration for Shakib’s initiative.

“He collaborated with a few friends to organize the marriage. I didn’t hesitate because I loved him. His courage completely shocked me. I didn’t expect him to pull off such a move,” she said.

Explaining her choice to request a Quran as a dowry, Zari explained that her decision was influenced by her spiritual journey with Allah.

‘Fala’

Zari also addressed the recently leaked audio clip in which she was heard referring to Shakib as fala (a stupid person).

The mother of five defended herself, clarifying that her intentions were not to shame or disrespect her husband.

She claimed that she was frustrated by efforts to get Shakib a visa to join her in the UK when she was heard speaking in the audio.

Zari emphasized that private conversations among women about their husbands are common, expressing disappointment in the betrayal she experienced from someone she believed to be a true friend.

The Ugandan socialite trash-talked her younger husband during a chitchat with her friend who she has now clashed with.

Zari was heard in the leaked audio saying that Shakib lacks confidence and was not assertive enough to speak up for himself.

Zari complained about how Shakib was completely unaware of whatever was happening during their UK trip.

Unajua Shakib ana panic, he is not very secure you enter the counter and they start asking questions, anapanic. Yeye mwenyewe hajiamini anakuanga na haya, anaanza kuogopa aargh,” Zari expressed her annoyance while calling her husband ‘fala’.

Kwa ufala yake hapo hapo ndo nampendea,” Zari said.

Shakib became subject to social media trolling after his wife called him ‘fala’.
