Musician Diamond Platnumz says he did not propose to his Kenyan lover, Tanasha Oketch, on her birthday on July 7 because he “finds it cliché for men to pop the ‘will you marry me?’ question on their partners’ natalday celebration.
Tanasha turned 24 on July 7; a birthday date the Kenyan radio presenter shares with Diamond’s mum Sanura Kassim, alias Bi Sandra.
Diamond Platnumz, 29, organised a mega party for the two important women in his life at a social hall in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Speaking to Tanzania’s Global Publishers recently, Diamond said many Tanzanians were expecting him to propose to his Kenyan flame on that day, but with him, he had other ideas.
“Every key thing that happens in one’s life should be planned. Tanzanians like to speculate on things. I like it when I am unpredictable. I did not want to propose to Tanasha in such a setting. I knew Tanzanians were expecting me to propose to Tanasha on that day. However, I did not want that day to come to an end with that development,” said Diamond Platnumz, who revealed his proposal style will be unique: “Many men have proposed to their lovers in such settings until it has now become cliché.”
Diamond Platnumz in late December 2018 media interviews, said he and Tanasha had agreed to tie the knot on February 14, 2019.
The musician would later come out and reveal he had pushed back his wedding to the Kenyan beauty so as to buy time and plan well for the big day.
Diamond Platnumz and Tanasha Oketch, who began dating in November 2018, are expecting a baby boy in September this year. The musician made that announcement during Tanasha’s birthday celebrations.
