By Steve Ireri, November 1, 2025Tanzanian influencer and self-proclaimed billionaire Godlove Mwakibete, popularly known as Chief Godlove, has become the latest public figure to face a harsh online backlash after his previous remarks about Tanzanian citizens and the ongoing election protests resurfaced.

The controversy erupted after Godlove deleted every post from his TikTok page, including his inspirational videos and personal photos, just three days after appearing in an interview on a Kenyan radio station and mocking Tanzanians who were planning to protest against President Samia.
A fact check by this writer confirmed that Mwakibete wiped out all his videos on the morning of Saturday, November 1, 2025, before commenting on a Kenyan TikToker’s post claiming that his remarks about the protests had been taken out of context.

The move came amid growing reports that the self-styled spiritual healer was among several public figures being targeted by Tanzanian youths who were planning an online boycott campaign against celebrities perceived to have ignored their call for democracy and justice.
Harsh remarks
During his interview on October 28, 2025, Chief Godlove made disparaging comments about those taking part in the protests, saying they lacked focus and a clear sense of direction.

He referred to them as fools, insisting that even if they succeeded in changing leadership, they would still not know what to do with the country.
“Jana nimeona kuna wapumbavu wanaandamana Tanzania. Maandamano yao ati wanasema ni juu wanataka maandamano. Sasa wewe unaandamana nini? Yaani hawana kitu. Na wao wanasema ati wanataka nchi yao, lakini tukikupa hiyo nchi utaipelekea wapi,” he had said.
Diamond’s move
Godlove’s decision to clear his TikTok page came just days after Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz also bowed to public pressure and deleted all his Instagram posts in which he had publicly endorsed President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

Diamond’s move came after angry citizens flooded his comment section with fierce criticism and threats, accusing him of siding with the government amid rising political unrest.
The Bongo Flava artiste took down his posts on Thursday, October 30, 2025, a day after he had posted an elaborate message praising President Suluhu’s leadership as Tanzania headed into its general election on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
In the glowing tribute, Diamond described President Suluhu as a wise, hardworking, and peace-loving leader who had achieved remarkable progress in education, healthcare, agriculture, fisheries, and infrastructure.

He had gone on to assure her of his full support and that of all the institutions under his leadership, pledging that they would vote for her and her running mate, Dr Nchimbie, in the general election.
Nikutakie usiku mwema na kila la kheri kwenye uchaguzi kesho,” he had added.
