Salasya reflects on his spiritual journey
By Ascah Mwango, March 5, 2025Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has opened up about his spiritual journey and his struggles on his path to success. In a post shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, Salasya reflected on how moments of worship deeply move him, often bringing him to tears as he remembers the challenges he has overcome.
Salasya admitted that while he does not frequently attend church, he maintains a strong faith in God. He recalled a Bible verse that guided him through difficult times, expressing his belief that he remains protected and blessed despite walking through hardship.
“That background worship when am in a church it’s my best moment it touches my deep heart and makes me emotional shading tears when i remember the journey i have walked through in my life..I know in my heart I rarely go to church, but God, you are my fortress. The best scripture I read a long time ago: you shall walk in the valley of death but nothing shall touch you …no scorpions will bite but instead you shall walk in the green pasture,” Salasya noted.

The young lawmaker has been vocal about his humble beginnings, frequently sharing stories of his past struggles and how he rose from poverty to become a public figure. He has consistently reassured his supporters that fame and wealth have not changed his character, emphasizing his commitment to staying connected to his roots.
On November 23, 2024, Salasya posted a video of himself engaging with construction workers in his constituency. He expressed his happiness in reconnecting with the community, stating that money has not altered his personality. He acknowledged that while his lifestyle has changed, his core values and identity remain the same.
“Just landed in Mumias at home, and vijana are happy for me. Aki mimi pesa haijanibadilisha. I am still the same Petero they knew before. Content ya ku make them happy ndio imechange…youths are happy,” he wrote.
Earlier in August, Salasya shared an emotional reflection on his family’s modest home, where his mother and twin siblings lived just two years before his political breakthrough. The house had no proper windows or ventilation, and he recalled sleeping on the floor due to a lack of a bed.
He posted a photo showing the family home alongside a campaign vehicle provided by the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa, illustrating the stark contrast between his past and present. He explained that while his mother and siblings stayed in the visible structure, he had lived in an even smaller, windowless house nearby.

“Hapa ndio ilikuwa nyumbani and our house two years ago. That house is ours, belonging to my mother and my twin brother and sister wenye wananifuata,” he shared.
Salasya encouraged his followers to remain hopeful and work hard despite their current circumstances. He emphasized that success is attainable through dedication, perseverance, and faith.
“Anything is possible; just keep trying and being hopeful. You are going to change your home through the career or business you are chasing today. God is faithful; just believe him in your heart and work hard and sacrifice what we call foregone cost opportunities in business studies,” he added.
