Salasya plans bonding time with his infant son
By Ascah Mwango, July 12, 2025Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has once again publicly expressed affection for his infant son, promising to spend quality time with the child, despite never having met him in person since birth.
In a post shared on his X account on Saturday, July 12, 2025, Salasya acknowledged that his son is growing fast and reaffirmed his commitment to being present in his life.
He promised to arrange with the child’s mother to bring the baby home for a traditional hair-shaving ceremony, a moment he hopes will mark their first father-son bonding experience.
“My boy is growing big. I bless you, my boy Zeven Kalerwa. Sijai kuona tangu uzaliwe lakini nakupenda bure. I will tell your mother to bring you to shave that big hair like mine, my boy,” Salasya expressed.

This is not the first time the vocal legislator has spoken about his son. Earlier this month, on July 2, Salasya had posted a series of light-hearted yet emotional messages on Instagram, where he marvelled at the child’s growth.
He joked that the boy’s hair had grown too long and insisted that he must be there when it is finally shaved, going as far as claiming he would cancel his presidential campaigns to be part of the moment.
“My boy is growing big ooooh. This is so beautiful. Aki nywele imekuwa kubwa mulete home. I am going to cancel my presidential campaigns to make sure wananyoa yeye nikikuwa the moment mamake anamuleta,” Salasya wrote on Instagram.
Protest baby
Salasya revealed that he met the child’s mother during the Gen Z protests, and though it was their first encounter, it unexpectedly led to the birth of his son.
The MP accepted the child as his own without hesitation, saying he did not need a DNA test because the boy looks exactly like him, fair-skinned, with distinct Luhya features.
“Aki ka boys kamenifanana – imagine it was my first meeting with his mother. 😄 🤣 😂 😆 It was just jokes and waaaaah kumbe inakuwanga tu hivyo kiurahisi,” Salasya stated.
“Mapua ya huyu mtoto ni ya Waluhya. Inafaa sasa mama ya mtoto amulete home wamunyoe nywele as per the culture. Ni mweupe kama mimi huyu. Aki huyu hata DNA sitaki. Nimekubali he turning about 4 months. Nilipatana na mamake wakati wa Gen Z protest,” he wrote on his Instagram on June 12, 2025.
He also shared that the child is now about four months old and reiterated his long-standing dream of having a big family. Although he once aspired to have 12 children, he admitted he may have started late.
“I bless this boy as the father. I dreamed that one day I would be the father of 12 children, but nilichelewa,” he stated.
