After weeks of publicly professing his admiration for socialite Huddah Monroe, Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has officially thrown in the towel.
The youthful legislator took to Instagram on Sunday, September 22, 2024 evening, to announce his decision to retreat from the race for Huddah’s heart, citing financial disparity as the main reason.
Salasya admitted that keeping up with Huddah’s lavish lifestyle was beyond his means.
He humorously noted that he cannot compete with other men and that he’s better off sticking with his down-to-earth ‘vienyeji’ girls.
The heartbroken lawmaker apologized to any local women he may have hurt during his high-profile pursuit of Huddah.
“Mimi siezani…,” Salasya said.
Adding that; “Afadhali nirudi kwa vienyeji yangu ya kawaida.I officially disassociate myself from this chick . Any comment I made that hearted any of my kienyeji outside here please forgive ilikuwa tu mambo ya social media,” he said.
Salasya’s retreat comes after weeks of hitting on Huddah, who recently returned to Kenya after a period of globe-trotting.
The MP had previously promised to give the socialite a grand reception upon her arrival, but the reality turned out to be far less dramatic. Instead of basking in Salasya’s attention, Huddah was spotted in the company of Arbantone artiste Godfrey Masambu, also known as Gody Tennor.
The internet went into overdrive when Tennor posted a photo of himself with Huddah, accompanied by a cryptic caption that hinted at his ambitions which was a slap on the face for Salasya who had been eyeing the socialite.
Tennor later teased that he and Huddah could be collaborating on a project, writing “Idrop ama?” in one of his Instagram stories.
All these came after the socialite had set up a rate card for a romantic meet-up with the MP which Salasya had obliged at first.
Salasya given tough conditions
On August 30, 2024, Huddah Monroe laid out some strict conditions for Mumias East MP Peter Salasya, her enthusiastic admirer, before their upcoming romantic meeting.
Sharing the details on her Instagram stories, the beauty queen emphasized that she prefers to keep her private life discreet, so she doesn’t want to be greeted by traditional Luhya dancers when she arrives.
Huddah also made it clear that any meeting must take place at a five-star hotel, specifically in a presidential suite adorned with orange roses, her favourite flower.
Moreover, Salasya was to pay Ksh3,870,000 as a greeting fee; otherwise, Huddah warned she would remain silent throughout the entire meetup.
“I don’t want any isukuti dancing at the airport. I’m private. I only hold meetings at JW Marriott, presidential suite… filled with orange roses. And don’t forget the $30,000 for greetings, or I won’t speak at all,” she wrote.
“Someone let the Gen Z guy know to make sure the organizers wish him all the best,” she added.
