Robert Burale: Nobody is born gay

Renowned preacher and motivational speaker Robert Burale has reignited debate around LGBTQ+ issues after declaring that no one is born gay.

Speaking during an interview with a podcast on Friday, July 18, 2025, Burale insisted that homosexuality goes against God’s natural order and emphasised the importance of traditional gender identity.

“The other day, I went and said something on national TV, and I was attacked. I spoke about LGBTQ+, that nobody is born gay,” he said.

The preacher, known for his outspoken views, said that many of those criticising him are parents and warned that society is drifting away from what he believes is God’s intended design.

“Some of the people attacking me are mothers with children. Some people will still attack me when I talk about God’s order, that he created male and female. Nobody is born gay; you are born a man and will die a man. Same for women: you are born a woman, you die a woman,” he declared.

Burale also mocked men who behave or dress in ways considered feminine.

“You will see some men dressing like women. Imagine a man calling another man in the middle of the night saying, ‘I just called to wish you goodnight,’ then you breathing heavily against the phone,” he said.

He acknowledged that his views are likely to attract backlash but stood firm.

“You know what? I will be attacked and told I’m judging. You wait until your son starts walking like this and saying ‘awwn’, then you bring him to me for counselling.”

Tough stance

Burale’s hardline stance is not new. In a 2023 interview on a local radio station, he discussed how he would react if his daughter came out as gay.

“I would take 40 40-day fasts. I would ask God to remove my pastor’s heart and let me be a parent,” he said in an interview on a local radio station.

The father of one said he has already had open conversations with his daughter on sexuality.

“I have also taken time to sit down with her and discuss these things with her. If you don’t discuss such with her, he/she will be talked to by outsiders.”

Burale also called out the influence of online personalities, claiming some are paid large sums to promote progressive messages.

“Some of these influencers are on a retainer of up to $10,000. People should stop following everything they say.”
