Kenyan businessman Kennedy Rapudo has denied engaging in money laundering, locally known as “Wash Wash”.
In a recent interview with Youtuber Mungai Eve, Rapudo dismissed the rumours surrounding his source of wealth as mere theories.
“People have come up with a lot of theories, including that I am a Wash Wash guy,” he stated.
Rapudo openly declared that he leads an honest and transparent life, refusing to engage in any risky ventures like ‘Wash Wash.’
He emphasized that he does not want to live under constant scrutiny and surveillance.
“I am not interested in Wash Wash. I do not want to live a life where I have to constantly live a life where I am being watched,” he revealed.
“You will never see me with Wash Wash guys; I live a clean life,” he added.
The businessman further explained that he prefers to keep his professional activities private, with only his family and close friends being aware of his legitimate income sources.
He firmly asserted that he would only disclose his business endeavours if he were to run for a political position in the future.
“My friends and family know my business, but for now, I prefer keeping it private. If I ever run for a political seat, I would tell people what I do,” he stated.
During the interview, Rapudo’s fiancée, Amber Ray, defended him, asserting that he doesn’t owe anyone an explanation regarding his financial affairs.
Amber Ray and Rapudo have recently attracted attention due to their lavish lifestyle, which has raised questions about the businessman’s wealth.
Rapudo questioned by Amber’s son
In a past Instagram post, Amber’s son, Gavin, questioned Rapudo about his occupation, stating that he had never seen him work but always noticed he had money to spend.
“What were you doing?” Gavin posed.
“I’ve been having meetings the whole day, I have to hustle,” Rapudo replied.
“I have never seen you go for meetings,” Gavin interrupted.
Amber Ray quickly butted in the conversation and told Gavin that people say that he (Rapudo) does Wash Wash.
“They say he does wash wash,” she jested.
Gavin seemingly resonated with his mother’s sentiments as he quickly pointed out that it could be true.
“I’ve never seen him work,” Gavin insisted “Every time there’s just money, it’s wash wash,” he added.
“He has money but he doesn’t work?” Amber Ray kept engaging the son.
“Yes, it’s wash wash!” Gavin remarked.
Rapudo without dispensing the controversial rumour, proudly said as long as it brings money, he didn’t mind what people were saying.
