Otile Brown pokes fun at high price of beauty after braiding thrice in a month
By Nancy Marende, August 17, 2025Kenyan singer Otile Brown has hilariously admitted that he finally understands just how expensive it is for women to maintain their beauty routines.
In a video message to his fans on August 17, 2025, Otile said he has had his hair braided three times in less than a month, and the costs are quickly adding up
“Ladies, I want to give you your flowers. Lifestyle is very expensive. I have to give it to you. You know, sometimes we, as men, usually think you are just trying to finesse or you are just money hungry all the time, but yoh!” he stated.
Furthermore, the Dusuma hitmaker revealed that each house call for his braiding costs him Ksh5,000.
“You see these braids I have on? I have another house call today, which is my third one, and it’s not even a month yet. I will probably do it again. And each house call is Ksh5,000,” he added.
Otile further acknowledged that beauty maintenance goes beyond braids, pointing to the additional expenses women face for skincare and other grooming routines.
“Big up on yourself. It is costly to be a woman. Saa hiyo hujaeka mafuta, ya skin sijui nini. Manze, big up on yourself.”
This comes a few days after he debuted a bold new look featuring neatly done cornrows and flashy green grills on his teeth.

In a video shared on his Instagram page on Sunday, August 3, 2025, the singer was seen inside his car alongside entertainer and outspoken supporter Cassypool. The two appeared in high spirits as Otile flaunted his new dental accessory, catching the attention of fans online.
“Otile Brown is the unbeatable number one artiste of East and Central Africa, and then number two is Diamond Platnumz,” Cassypool declared in the video.
Otile and Bien feud
This bold look came just days after Otile Brown and fellow artiste Bien were embroiled in a bitter online feud. The drama began after Otile’s manager, Mumbi Maina, unexpectedly resigned on Monday, July 28. Soon after, Bien shared a clip of his song Wahala on Instagram, including the lyrics “All my enemies are suffering.”
Otile fired back with a scathing response, accusing Bien of being fake and always seeking attention.
“That person just had to comment. Always talking. This wannabe international guy thinks he made it off a little Kenyan favour that landed in his lap. Over what songs? Those TikTok challenges that last only two weeks?” Otile said.
He went on to caution Bien, warning him that fame can disappear just as quickly as it comes.
“You cannot win on grace alone. Always wants to be seen, always has something to say on every blog post. You know I can snatch that spot any time, right? It only takes one right move from me and one wrong move from you. This is Kenya, and you know your people well.”
The Jeraha hitmaker didn’t hold back when it came to Bien’s appearance either.
“I am not a hater. You are doing well, but try and look the part. Moisturise those lips that cannot go a minute without moving. Dress properly and stop carrying local accessories like those cheap village earrings. There is no authenticity there,” he continued.
Adding;
“You call yourself international, but I repeat, you can never beat me. Even if you win a Grammy, I do not recognise you. Too much bluff. Enjoy it while it lasts. This is the reason I do not respect that guy. He is the biggest hypocrite.”
