Veteran rapper Herbert Nakitare aka Nonini opened up about his strained relationship with his biological father who is a well-known politician.

The US-based rapper disclosed that his father has been missing from his life for the better part of the 41 years he has been alive on earth.

By the time I was born he was missing. I met him once in a while when I was growing up ka lunch here, but mzae hatuna relationship yeyote,” Nonini said while speaking during an interview on the Iko Nini podcast.

The ‘We Kamu’ hitmaker further asserted that his absentee father is a well-known politician and that when he debuted as a musician he was teased for being a rich kid.

“I didn’t have a relationship with him. He is well known, even when I started music many accused me of being a rich kid of a politician. But this wasn’t the case,” he stated.

Nonini dismissed the notion that he ate life with a big spoon because of his rich father, noting that he was born and raised in Eastlands where life is tough.

The veteran rapper further divulged that his father was there for his elder siblings but for him, he was conspicuously absent from his life.

“People say I have never hustled, We ni mtu soft soft. But I was born and brought up in Calif. For my sisters and brother, he was in their life, but for me, there’s a 10-year gap and he wasn’t in my life. They know him differently and I know him differently.”

Nonini speculated that his elder sisters and brother could be communicating with their father but for him, he stressed that he doesn’t give a damn.

“I think they communicate. I care less,” he stated.
