Social media has recently been awash with reports that Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has married a 23-year-old girl.

This is after a picture of the said girl with Atwoli while at the Coast region went viral on social media.

The rumours have escalated to a level that the wife to the COTU SG Mary Kilobi, a news anchor at KTN News, has been forced to respond to the issue.

Kilobi took to her Instagram page to indirectly downplay the rumours as she shared the pictures of Atwoli with said woman.

“Huyu Dem wa 23 Year Old Msomali au sijui Jamila Mbugua si ametesa Jameni? Watu hawalali!🤣. Mkimuona salimia yeye sana. Nitamtafuta tujadiliane.😄 (This lady of 23 years or I don’t know Jamila Mbugua or a Somali has really generated abuzz. People can’t sleep. If you meet her, say hi. I will look for her for a talk),” she said.

Atwoli, who is in the Coast region, recently celebrated his birthday by spending good moments on a yacht trip around the Indian Ocean.

While thanking his friends for wishing him a good birthday, one of the images Atwoli shared was with the woman he is accused of marrying.

In other images, he was with the Devolution CS Eugine Wamalwa and a man he introduced as his son.

Atwoli also acknowledged his wife’s contribution and said; “May I take this opportunity to say a BIG THANK YOU for all your warm birthday wishes. Sincere gratitude to my wife Mary Atwoli, Waziri Eugene Wamalwa and my son Philipo @themainpoacher who took me on a yacht trip around the Indian Ocean.”

Kilobi’s response comes at a time when Atwoli, who is vocal on issues touching him, has seemingly ignored the rumours since he hasn’t given a comment on the matter yet.
