Nana Owiti mourns event promoter Maurice Ryan in emotional tribute
By Valerian Khakayi, July 10, 2025Digital content creator Nana Owiti has penned an emotional tribute in memory of the late popular Kisumu-based events promoter, Maurice Ryan, widely known as Morrey.
Taking to her official Instagram account on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Nana disclosed that she had barely slept the previous night because her mind would not stop thinking about him.
The football fanatic disclosed that she had known him for years, long before the children came along, and that he had always shown genuine kindness to her family and had stood by them in ways words could not capture.
She added that it was heartbreaking to accept that he was truly gone and that she was in absolute disbelief, adding that Kisumu would never be the same again for her, her children, and so many other people.
“I could barely sleep last night. My mind couldn’t stop thinking about him. I’ve known him for years, long before the kids. He’s always shown such genuine kindness to my family and stood by them in ways words cannot capture,” Nana wrote.
“It’s heartbreaking to accept that he’s truly gone. I’m in absolute disbelief. Kisumu will never be the same again for me, my children, and so many other people.”
She further extended her sympathy to Morrey’s son and mother, stating that she couldn’t begin to imagine their pain.
“My heart aches even more for his son, Junior, and his mom. I cannot begin to imagine their pain. I just pray he’s resting in a place filled with peace and far from any pain. Morrey, you were a GREAT, solid man. May the heavens receive you,” Nana mourned.
Who is Maurice Ryan?
He was a Kisumu-based events promoter and was also known for his strong ties with artistes and his recent collaborations with King Kaka.
Morrey died due to complications following brain surgery, which he underwent amid ongoing cancer treatment.
