Mwende Macharia faces backlash after interview with Azziad flopped
Media personality Mwende Macharia is now facing backlash from Azziad’s online fans and netizens in general following her interview with the TikTok queen.
In a now-deleted video from the Radio-Maisha live feed, Mwende Macharia was heard speaking When Azziad stormed out of their interview after she ( Mwende) asked about her (Azziad) reported sacking from Talanta Hela Council. “Ako na utoto,” Mwende told fellow hosts.
“Si amesema ‘no comment’, asituletee,” she added.
The TikTok video has caused a frenzy as Azziad’s fans rally behind her, denouncing the radio presenter for going after Azziad in a non-journalistic tone.

Fans who were eagerly following the controversial issue went on TikTok to repost the video while criticizing Mwende.
Some even made videos commending Azziad for walking out of the heated interview.
“It’s the kiburi for me, iyo kiburi ndo inafanya nisitakiwe advantage,” a fan said.
Mwende Macharia interview
After being probed about her reported sacking from Talanta Hela Council, Azziad Nasenya walked out of the interview with Mwende Macharia, an incident that left the internet abuzz.
The incident, which was filmed on the radio station’s TikTok live feed, ignited a heated debate about the limits of journalistic investigation and personal privacy.
When Mwende brought up the topic that they had ostensibly agreed not to address, the conversation took an unexpected turn. Azziad conveyed her anger right away.
She walked out of the studios, claiming that the question was improper and breached their previous agreement. She was taken aback and walked out in protest.
“Nimemcancel, we are so done,” Azziad was heard speaking.
Mwende, on the other hand, justified her method of questioning, emphasizing her job as a journalist. She claimed that for the interview to make sense and deliver important information to the public, she needed to ask about the contentious firing.
According to Mwende, Azziad had responded with a “no comment” which according to her was a fair enough response and she saw no need for her to walk out.
While some argue that Mwende’s inquiry was necessary to provide a complete picture, others feel that it crossed a line of sensitivity and respect for the interviewee’s wishes.
Talanta Hela firing
On Friday, June 9, Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba revoked a gazette notification that formed the Talanta Hela council and technical committee.
Notable celebrities appointed in the February 2023 Gazette Notice were Daniel Ndambuki (Churchill), Azziad Nasenya, Esther Akoth (Akothee) and digital strategist Dennis Itumbi.
“It is notified for general information of the public that the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports and the Arts has revoked Gazette Notice No.1649 of 2023,” read the notice in part.
The appointees were to serve for three years.
Other personalities whose appointments were revoked were Spice FM presenter Jimmi Gathu and media celebrity, Catherine Kamau (Kate the Actress).
Notably, the CS provided no explanation for why the appointments were terminated.
Churchill and his team had been tasked with assisting the government in revitalizing and reforming the creative industries, including sports.
The nominations to Talanta Hela were cancelled a few days after the body was challenged in court.
Justice Lawrence Mugambi directed that Gazette Notice No.1649 of 2023 be suspended until the Court resolved the matter.
“Pending the hearing and determination of this application interparties, an interim order be and is hereby issued suspending the special issue of the Kenya Gazette Notice 1649(Vol. CXXV No.32) dated February 10, 2023,” the judge said.
The Talanta Hela has recently sparked many rumours about Azziad Nasenya and CS Ababu Namwamba’s relationship, with Azziad receiving a lot of abuse from online trolls.
