She explained on Thursday, October 9, 2025, during her radio show that she only gives when she feels moved to do so, not because people online expect her to.

“Mimi, I tried to do this helping deed one time, and I said, ‘Lord… hiyo ingine ni kama unapatiana wewe. We patiana without documenting. That one, I do it all the time when my heart has been compelled to do so. Not because the crowd has said so. Oh, saidia huyu, saidia huyu… Mimi, I have been tagged in those things; nakuambia mtaningoja. Mtangoja sana,” she said.

Says charity work can be risky

According to Mwalimu Rachel, helping people publicly or through social media comes with its own set of challenges. She noted that it is not as easy as it looks and involves a lot of responsibility.

“It is a heavy responsibility. It needs a whole lot of work in terms of verifying the information you have given. If you have the time and the resources, be that humanitarian. Kuna story za woiye woiye but zingine pia mfuko. When it comes to your reputation, it is very risky,” she said.

Mwalimu Rachel went on to say that helping others should come from a genuine place and not be used for publicity or validation.

She added that the online culture of tagging celebrities and influencers to contribute to various causes puts them in uncomfortable situations, especially when they cannot confirm the authenticity of the cases.

She also revealed that she had warned media personality Obinna about the dangers of public charity. “Na nili m warn nikamwambia Obinna hii ni kazi haina shukrani. You might be praised today. The same tongues that raise you in praise will be the same tongues, I guarantee you, that will break you down when it comes to trying to destroy your name,” she said.
