MC Jessy explains why he keeps his kids off social media
By Valerian Khakayi, August 6, 2025Veteran stand-up comedian and media personality Jasper Muthomi, widely known as MC Jessy, has given thoughtful reasons as to why he keeps his family out of the public spotlight, specifically social media.
Speaking during a candid interview with Alex Mwakideu on an episode uploaded on YouTube on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Jessy said that he alone chose a life in the limelight and fame and not his children nor any other family member.
He further disclosed that he has two children, and his privacy decision is rooted in the belief that their lives remain separate and untouched by the glare of social media.
The funny man added that their personal lives should not be broadcast without their consent since their privacy is paramount.

“Mimi niko na watoto wawili.Kwani wao wameoma waekwe? I am the one who chose the life of public life, not my brother, not my sister, not my children, not anybody. I am the one who chose to be on the limelight until they decide to be in the limelight, mimi life yao si interfere nayo, but sasa hawajataka,” MC Jessy said.
Furthermore, he questioned why some parents feel compelled to display their children online, especially when fame can be overwhelming.
“Alafu pia mbona unashinda unaweka watoto kwa mtandao? According to me, fame is too much,” he added.
MC Jessy on privacy
This is not the first time the comedian has opened up about shielding his family from social media dramas by not parading them.
Speaking during an interview on August 14, 2024, he stressed that he needed consent from his family before sharing any personal details on social media.

“Anything concerning someone other than MC Jessy requires their consent. I want them to agree if I can discuss them in the media or not. I started comedy when I was alone, and I prefer to keep it that way,” he said.
Additionally, Jessy disclosed that apart from shielding his family, he was protecting himself in case a relationship did not work out.
“Romance can end, and I don’t want to explain that to people. Fans are interested in what I am doing, not in my personal life. There are scenarios where relationships end, and I would rather not put my personal life out there,” he added.
