Lydia Wanjiru has shared her experience with Ozempic, a medication often prescribed for type 2 diabetes but increasingly used for weight management.

In a recent session where she addressed common questions on Instagram on Friday, September 19, 2025, Wanjiru spoke openly about the side effects she has faced since beginning the treatment.

She also gave insights into the risk of regaining weight after stopping the drug and the importance of lifestyle changes.

Fatigue, nausea and dizziness

According to Wanjiru, one of the most frequent side effects she experiences is general body fatigue, which she attributes to a significant reduction in her appetite. She said the loss of interest in food has left her feeling weaker than before.

“Most days, I experienced general body fatigue because of not eating as before. I had nausea and diarrhoea from time to time. I got constipated twice,” she explained.

She added that beyond digestive issues, she also experienced headaches and spells of dizziness, particularly when she rose to her feet quickly.

“I had a small headache and dizziness when I stood suddenly,” she said, noting that the impact of the drug differs from person to person. “These side effects and intensity vary from one person to another. Some feel nothing.”

Her remarks point to the mixed experiences among people using Ozempic, with some reporting no effects at all while others deal with recurring discomforts.

High chances of weight regain

Wanjiru also addressed concerns about whether the weight lost while using Ozempic can return. She said the likelihood is very high if one does not make permanent changes in diet and lifestyle.

“During, you should adopt a clean eating lifestyle like juicing, smoothies, detoxifying, one meal a day, exercises, moving your body, limiting alcohol and avoiding overindulgence,” she advised.

She stressed that maintaining weight requires discipline even while on treatment. According to her, the medication can only help jump-start the process, but it is long-term habits that secure lasting results.

“Otherwise, if you fall back to your old habits, even with any other weight loss program, you’ll gain back the weight and even more,” she warned.

Her responses highlight both the promise and the challenges of Ozempic.
