Former Machakos First Lady Lilian Ng’ang’a has taken an issue with the rising number of celebrities seeking elective seats in the coming elections.
Taking to her social media pages, Ng’ang’a claimed that the famous people vying for political seats have no intention of serving the people and are only seeking public offices to chase clout.
According to her, fame is not enough reason for one to run for an office.
“Just because someone is popular for whatever reason does not mean they should run for office. Most of such have no intention of serving the people…it’s just chasing clout. Terrible,” Ng’ang’a said.
Her statement elicited mixed reactions online with many Kenyans on Twitter concurring with her school of thought.

“Amesema ukweli mtupu,no lie no lie no lie,” a Twitter user said.
“Very honest observation right there, politics ain’t about followers and likes nor is it about philanthropy,” another added.
Her statement comes at a time when the country has witnessed a high number of celebrities declaring their interest to vie for a political seat.
Some of the celebrities running for office include Jalango, Anita Soina, and Jamal Gadaffi among others.
