Kenyan musician and entrepreneur Karagu Kimani, popularly known as KRG The Don, has revealed his interest in contesting for the Nairobi Senate seat ahead of the 2027 elections. This comes after the United Democratic Alliance’s recent by-election sweep.

In a statement shared on his Instagram on Saturday, November 29, 2025, KRG hinted at his political ambitions.

“Ni fire si fire. The Scenes are taking shape slowly and steadily. #SenetorNairobi 47 County 2027 ni bughaa,” he wrote.

On his Instagram stories, he further expressed his growing fascination with politics.

“I’m falling in love with politics every day,” he said.

KRG made the comparison between music and politics during an interview with Chris the Bass on Friday, November 28, 2025. He said breaking into the music industry in Kenya is far more challenging than venturing into politics.

“Hii muziki iko na maneno mingi ni kali kuliko siasa. If you compare the Kenya entertainment industry and politics, politics ni simple kwa sababu ukipiga campaign yako vizuri kwa ground ukuwe elected miaka tano. Hakuna mtu anakutoa hapo, wewe ndio utaamua ufanye kazi ama hutafanya kazi, lakini wananchi ndio wataamua baada ya miaka tano,” he explained.

He added that success in music depends on constant performance and public reception, unlike politics, where victories are structured over longer periods.

“Mziki maamuzi yako ni kila siku. Leo ngoma yako ndio iko juu, kesho ni ya mwengine. Competition ni stiff na judgement ni daily,” KRG said.

The musician also stressed the importance of management and support for artistes.

“Apart from that, ukuwe na ngoma kali huna management hupati shows,” he noted.
