Veteran rapper Paul Julius Nunda aka Jua Cali was chased off stage by irate Egerton University students for reasons unknown to him.

Jua Cali reminisced about the incident that happened in the early 2000s when he was just making his debut in the music industry.

The rapper said veteran music producer Clemmo organized for him and fellow rapper Nonini to perform at Egerton University main campus in Njoro, Nakuru county.

Ile time Clemo (BeatYaClemo) alikua Egerton Uni Njoro, around 2001 ma students walipanga event flani huko so Clemo took that opportunity akawaambia โ€œnitabonga na JuaCali na Nonini wakuje waperformโ€
So sisi hao mimi na @Noninimgenge2ru kwa mat za Njoro mpaka Egerton. Tulifika ma usiku so tukaenda kwa Mess tukadishi halafu Clemo na Arton(landlord) wakutupeleka kwa rooms tuka freshen up tukakue ready for show
. Kumbuka hio time tulikua relatively new kwa industry but Clemo alikua amesambaza ma songs zetu kwa students kadha so kuna watu walikua familiar na songs zetu,” Jua Cali wrote.

The veteran rapper added that Nonini and he got on stage after some musicians curtain raised for them for about 30 minutes.

So around 12 tukaelekea kwa hall place event ilikua inahappen tukapata ma curtain raisers walikua washaanza kuperform after ka 30mins wakamaliza.”

Jua Cali said all hell broke loose nearly halfway into his performance as all of a sudden students started hurling plastic cups at him before glasses came flying like missiles.

He added that the irate students didn’t want Nonini and him to continue performing thus they had to run for their dear lives before the violence escalated further.

The rapper noted that he could not tell why the students abruptly turned against them and unceremoniously chased them off the stage.

Hio time mimi na Nonini tulikua the dynamic duo so tuliingia stage pamoja if my memory serves me right tulianza na song yangu RUKA kwa katikati ya performance sijui nini ilihappen kuna msee mmoja alitupa hizi plastic cups kwa stage all over sudden ma chupa zikaanza kufly mingi manze 😂😂😂😂 ma stude hawataki kuskiza tukiperform!! Kelele pia ilikua mob haungeskia ata ngoma ikiimba tukaona hapa ni noma ikabidi tuhepe stage. Kwa mind zetu tunajiambia weh!!! hii industry ya mziki ni noma hivi!! 😂😂😂😂,” Jua Cali wrote.

Later on Clemo alikua anabonga na students kadha hapo nje ya hall akawaambia โ€œmnaona kitu mumefanya? Siku moja mutatamani hawa wasee na hamtawa afford,” he added.

Though he felt dejected after being chased off the stage like a common thief, Jua Cali stated that the incident didn’t stop him from going back to perform at Egerton University.

We felt dejected but that incident did not stop us from pursuing our dreams. After a few years Calif records blew up we had no bad blood with Egerton they called us back for many events which we accepted went back and killed all of them,” Jua Cali said.

The veteran rapper, who has gone through many ordeals in his music career, advised new-generation artistes not to give up on their music careers when faced with challenges.

So kwa Artist wote!! kuna hurdles mob mutapitia starting off but most importantly keep your eyes on the prize and donโ€™t give up. 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿,” he added.
