Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho sent musician Susumila to Milele FM studios with Ksh253, 000, which is part of the pledge the county chief had made towards supporting Levis Otieno, who reported to Kanga High School in Migori County with only two bars of soap in a metallic box on Monday, January 13.
Susumila, who was the guest on Milele FM’s Alex and Jalas morning show on Friday, January 17, handed the money over to Jalang’o, who had made a support appeal to Kenyans to help Levis successfully pursue his education.
Joho was one of the well-wishers who pledged aid.
And after receiving the money, Jalang’o said he will, on Monday, January 20, credit it to Kanga High School account under Levis Otieno’s name.
“Governor, we say thank you for helping Otieno. The package you have sent through Susumila, has reached us,” said Jalang’o.
A Kenyan supermarket is the other well-wisher that has offered to provide a full term free-shopping for Levis.
Levis Otieno, who hails from Karachuonyo Village in Homa Bay County, scored 390 marks out of the possible 500 in the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
His mother, Monica Otieno, had applied for a Constituency Development Fund (CDF) bursary but failed to get help.
“I do not have any money to pay for his school uniform and pay his fees or any other necessity,” she said.
