Jacque Maribe insists she is very comfortable raising her 8-year-old son Zahari as a single parent without the help of her baby daddy Eric Omondi.
The former Citizen TV reporter spoke about raising her son alone while responding to a netizen on social media who asked her to sue her baby daddy for child upkeep money.
Maribe dismissed the netizen saying she has her own money and that she would never sue for child upkeep.
“She should start suing the kid’s father for upkeep money,” the netizen wrote.
To which Maribe responded;
“Ala! You want to be enjoined in the case? Why sue when you have your own money? Hizo ni vitu siwezi fanya (that’s something I can’t do).”
Maribe and Eric Omondi drama
Jacque Maribe and Eric Omondi had a very ugly confrontation in November 2021 when the former revealed that the latter was a deadbeat dad.
The whole drama started after Eric posted a photo of a pregnant woman on his Instagram page suggesting he would soon be a dad for the second time.
“I met this beautiful woman five months ago in (at) an event I was hosting. Whatever happened (has) happened and I promised her I would take every responsibility. Children are a blessing from God,” Eric Omondi wrote.
Maribe responded to Eric’s post with a sarcastic comment tagging her sister Cate.
“Responsibility? @catewamaribe come I can’t speak. 7 years of responsibility,” she wrote.
In another post, Maribe narrated how she was taking care of her son alone as a single mother.
“I have an absolute love for this here son of mine, the fruit of my womb that I wanted. And I’m blessed to be custodian over him. Now, a lot of people have asked me to be quiet about what the real story on the ground is, I respect that.
“But I also ask that you respect me enough to be really real. I wouldn’t air any dirty laundry. A lot of my real friends love him, and us, he’s such a charming person.
“My family adores him. So, all said and done, and you can read in between the lines if you want, I’m hopelessly in love with motherhood. And as a single mum doing everything on her own, my goal is to raise a brilliant person, as he already is,” she wrote.
Responding to Jacque Maribe’s comment, Eric laughed and said, “Sijamuelewa (I have not understood what she meant)”
“I have not called her about it but my relationship story with Jacque is something everyone knows. But she always posts myself and the child so I don’t know if she is pulling my leg or I honestly haven’t understood because 7 years is a long time,” he added
Eric claimed Maribe declined his request for DNA test
The comedian in a lengthy post on social media said he chose to be a deadbeat dad because Maribe claimed she got pregnant for him after a one-night stand yet she blatantly rejected his suggestion for a DNA test to ascertain the paternity of their son Zahari who was born on May 14, 2014.
Eric suggested that Maribe’s son could have been fathered by journalist Sam Ogina claiming that the two were dating around the time when the kid was born.
Things turned ugly after Ogina hit back at Eric and exposed his birthday suit photos for dragging him into his mess.
“So we met at Radio Africa in 2012. I was working at Radio Jambo and Jacque was working at Kiss TV. So one Random night after a Radio Africa Staff Party and after a few bottles of whiskey and wine glasses Jacque and I happened.
“It was really a one-night thing because she was dating KTN’s Sam Ogina at the time. We used protection! After two Months Jacque tells me she’s Pregnant!!
“I immediately asked her how since we used protection??? She then tells me “It doesn’t matter the mother always knows who the father is and that I am the father!!!! During the entire pregnancy period nothing happened and we barely saw each other. Roughly 4 months after the baby was born Jacque called me and asked me if I would help or be part of the baby’s life.
“I asked her for a DNA test so that I could comfortably be part of the baby’s life and support fully. She got very offended and Refused my request. For 7 seven years I have begged Jacque to allow us to have a DNA Test, and she has continually refused!” Eric Omondi narrated.
The comedian added that he was willing to support Maribe and her son only if she agreed to his suggestion for a DNA test.
“I don’t mind supporting the child but if you want me to be FULLY PRESENT and SUPPORTIVE, if you want me to be a FATHER, Then we have to do the Right THING!” He added.
However, Eric Omondi and Jacque Maribe buried the hatchet after being reconciled by Bonfire Adventures CEO Simon Kabu who facilitated a ‘handshake’ between them.
