Kenyan socialite Huddah Monroe believes that the 22-year-old Jacinta Maryline Ouma who was arrested for impersonating a General Service Unit (GSU) officer should be taken through proper training instead of being put behind bars.

She took to her Insta stories to share her unconventional opinion on the matter.

“But instead of arresting her, take her for training. I mean when will we start using common sense.”

Impersonating GSU officer

The suspect who hails from Bukiri, Samia, was apprehended at the Buhalire shopping centre as she was reportedly en route to the Butula police station.

When the suspect accomplice was apprehended, she was walking alongside a man believed to be her accomplice while wearing a complete GSU uniform and carrying an AK47 rifle.

The police arrested her after her colleagues became suspicious and raised questions about where she got the uniform and rifle.

Authorities also observed that the suspect had been loitering around police stations in Kisumu, Siaya, Kiambu, and Busia.

“We suspected her while on duty at Bumala police and we had her arrested and we found a lot of pictures in her phone with a full GSU uniform and a firearm but she could not explain herself in which police station she was from. We had her arrested for the investigation to be done,” an officer stated.

Following the arrest, the suspect was arraigned at the Busia High Court where she appeared before Magistrate Peter Olengo.

She admitted to the charges and told the court that she got the outfit from the Industrial area and borrowed the gun from an officer just to take some photos.

“I bought the uniform in the Industrial Area and I just wanted to put on the uniform so that people can know I am a police officer and I do not have a gun, I was only given by a police officer to take photos,” she stated.

Justic Olengo ordered that the suspect be detained at the Bumala police station for 21 days to pave room for further investigations.
