Isaac Wekesa, popularly known as Goliath wa Bungoma, is convinced that Bradley Marongo is his sibling, citing their striking resemblance as proof.
In a recent interview with Trudy Kitui, Wekesa expressed shock upon discovering another person who looks uncannily like him.
The revelation came after Bradley Marongo became an internet sensation following his appearance in Nairobi.
Wekesa, who is from Bungoma County, said that upon seeing Marongo, he immediately confronted his mother about the resemblance, but she evaded his questions.
“Wakati nlikua nyumbani nkaitwa na beste yangu akasema ‘wee bwana umekua Nairobi umeshafika huku?’ Mi nkamwambia mimi siko Nairobi,” Wekesa shared, recalling the moment a friend mistook Marongo for him.
“Nkatoka hapo nkaenda nkaulizia mama ‘kuna kitu nimeskia jamaa ako tunafanana na yeye kabisa. Sasa nataka uniambie ukweli wewe ama baba sababu munasemanga ni mimi ndo mkubwa pekee yangu.'”
When his mother refused to confirm or deny the relationship, Wekesa turned to one of his uncles from his mother’s side for answers.
The uncle suggested that Marongo could indeed be his brother, but encouraged him to seek the truth directly from his mother.
“Nikarudi katika wajomba wa brother wa kina mama. Nkamuulizia ‘mjomba mimi iko hivi iko hivi’ ata mjomba pia akaona kwa simu yake. Sasa yeye akasema kama mamaku alikua amekuficha enda umuulizie vizuri huyo ni brother wako,” he recounted.
With his mother declining to provide a clear answer a second time, Wekesa decided to travel to Nairobi to meet Marongo in person.
“Vile aliniambia nkarudi kuambia mama, ‘mama niambie ukweli kwa sababu vitu venye iko usikuje kudanganya’. Mama akasema ‘wee toka hapa staki uniambie hizo vitu, kama unaona kama kuna ndugu yako enda umtafute,” he remarked.
DNA
Wekesa has now reached out to Marongo, extending a heartfelt plea for a meeting to discuss their potential relationship.
“Namtamani kama ndugu akuje tukae na yeye tuongee tujue vile tunaweza saidiana. Lakini mimi najua Bradley ni ndugu yangu,” he stated confidently.
When asked if he would be willing to undergo a DNA test to confirm kinship, Wekesa responded decisively, “Nko tayari for DNA.”
Standing at an imposing 8.5 feet, Goliath Wa Bungoma is slightly taller than Bradley Marongo, who measures 8.2 feet.
While Wekesa hails from Bungoma County, Marongo is from Majengo, Vihiga County.
Marongo first rose to prominence during the recent Gen Z protests across the country, earning the title of tallest Gen Z — a title later challenged by the appearance of Goliath Wa Bungoma.
As the public eagerly awaits a possible meeting and DNA test between these two towering figures, Wekesa’s quest for the truth about his potential sibling continues to captivate the nation.
